Nicaraguans don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be turkey in San Juan del Sur today. For those expats, travellers and tourists looking to get their turkey fix there are plenty of options.

From 5 pm BIG WAVE DAVES will be serving roast turkey and all the trimmins’ at a cost of C$300 ($11.53 USD) per person.

CHA CHA CHA is hosting their 1st Annual Thanksgiving Dinner today. Their traditional dinner comes with a slice of pumpkin pie. It’s an extra special one at Cha Cha Cha today because brothers and owners Steven and Glenn are spending Thanksgiving with their parents – something that hasn’t happened in a long time!

Since we were in Mexico for Canadian Thanksgiving, we are especially happy to be celebrating American Thanksgiving today at our friend’s home with 10 of our close expat pals.

What’s funny and interesting about this American Thanksgiving celebration is that there will only be 4 Americans seated at our table. Today we have representation from Canada, Holland, Ireland and New Zealand. Sharing unique holiday celebrations from around the globe is just one of the many reasons we love living in San Juan del Sur.

Wherever you are in the world we’d like to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. I am so grateful for all your posting, every time I read it, I get more excited about moving to San Juan Del Sur. My whole family thinks I am nuts for desiring to move there when all my family is here. I tell my family that you are my friends that don’t know you are my friends yet. I can’t wait to be there and continue to live my life purpose. I am a Certified Colon Hydrotherapist. My dream is to open a center in San Juan Del Sur. God willing.

  2. For the fruit which you purchased at the end of your driveway in Kingston, Ontario, Canada that amount of fruit/veggies would set you back about 20 bucks cdn.

In Cuba where I spend my winters (and where I can’t buy a home or motorbike) I would pay about 2-3 dollars. I would say Nica would be about the same. About 2-3 bucks.

    Thanks,
    Mark

  3. What would monthly house rentals cost?

I don’t want a shiny new place; rather I would like a typical Nica house. If I like it I will consider re-locating from Cuba where we can’t buy property, vehicles, TV’s etc.

    Thanks,
Mark Kennedy in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada

    1. Hi Mark,

I would say the average price of a typical Nica rental in San Juan del Sur currently ranges between $300 – $500 USD per month.

We have actually seen an increase in pricing in rentals from when we moved to San Juan two years ago.

      Cheers,
