For the past 25 years Alfredo has been delivering fresh milk to residents of San Juan del Sur via horse cart. Videographer Kathleen Brugger recently had the privilege of riding with him for a day and as a result produced this fabulous video that we are excited to share with you.
Gordon and I pass Alfredo on the street on an almost daily basis. His warm hearted wave and big grin always brings a smile to my face.
In addition to milk delivery Alfredo’s also famous in San Juan for his role as “lead cart driver” for our Annual St. Patrick’s Day Ox Cart Pub Crawl. Last year I had the honor of riding with and getting to know him.
Interactions with individuals like Alfredo are one of the many reasons we are glad to call San Juan del Sur home!
I would buy milk from him!
Love this story. It makes my heart glad. I grew up on a farm in Alberta in the 1960 & 70’s. We milked cows and every Saturday we took the milk into the local town and delivered it to our customers. The only difference, we had the milk & cream already in glass bottles and we used a car. If, I was to do that today, I would be charged and shut down. In the modern western world, we have so many regulations and laws that have gotten us away from a more natural way of living. We all drank unpasteurized milk and were healthy.
This is really Awesome. I love the real side to your blog. This is actually very interesting stuff. I would be curious how much he sells it for? Thank you for this and please do more like it.
What a completely charming video. All my dairy dreams come true…totally buying the milk.
