The park’s wildlife includes coyotes, skunks, raccoons, opossums, deer, iguanas, and monkeys and therefore the guard suggested we carry Maggie.

On our visit to Masaya Volcano in 2007 , our guide told us there are birds that actually nest inside the crater. They have built up an immunity to sulfuric gasses emitted by the volcano.
