Playa Maderas is a popular surfing beach located 20 minutes North of San Juan del Sur.
There are a few surf shops and hostels in San Juan del Sur that offer shuttle service to here.
At low tide Playa Maderas has wonderful sandy stretches great for sunbathing.
A 4 x 4 is recommended for travel to Playa Maderas.
Sometimes called Los Playones, Maderas is a slow wave in fairly deep (2m) water, good for beginners, with two right and two left breaks that get hollow on a rising tide.
From Playa Maderas you can walk 10 minutes around the corner and over the rocks to Playa Majagual.
There are 3 restaurants located directly on the beach. From left to right: Mi Rancho, Tacos Locos & Los Tres Hermanos.
Mi Rancho
Dorm beds and private rooms are available at Los Tres Hermanos.
Surf boards and lessons are always available at Playa Maderas.
